About Us
About Roseland
Roseland is a community located on Chicago's south side that is rooted in history, resiliency, and ambition. Home to higher education institutions like Chicago State University and cultural landmarks like the A. Philip Randolph Pullman Porter Museum, the community has strengths to draw upon, including its remarkable people. However, a history of systemic injustice has too often limited the potential of Roseland youth. As a result of historical redlining and underinvestment, inequitable public safety, and disparities in health and education, children in Roseland must push back against systemic inequity to thrive.
About R2C2
R2C2 advances human potential in Roseland by working hand-in-hand with Roseland's young people and families to enable them to live longer, healthier, and more meaningful lives.
Founded and led by Roseland native, Steve Gates, the organization takes a holistic, wraparound approach to youth service, building relationships with young people in the community, identifying supportive services they may need, and walking with them and their families on a path to peace, prosperity, and flourishing lives.
While each journey is different, R2C2's work has included providing:
- Housing resources
- Trauma-informed counseling
- Economic mobility programming
- Legal services and support
- Basic needs
